[THU] CLC Foreign Student Speech Contest – 2015 AUG

Objective: The competition is to motivate the student’s recognition of Chinese culture and Chinese language.

Qualification for entry into the competition requires foreign students to be enrolled in a Taiwanese educational institution. The contestant need to be at least 18 years of age, and must not hold R.O.C nationality.

Registration Period: As of now to October 14, 2015 (Wednesday) afternoon at 5PM.

Date for Drawing Lots for the Speech Order: October 11, 3:00 p.m.

Speech Topics:Choose one of the following topics and memorize your speech.

  •  The beauty of Taiwan
  • Achievements and inspirations from Dr. Sun Yat-sen
  •  Joining in the Lively Folk Festivals
  • My Future is not just a Dream
  • Free Speech on Internet (For and Against)

Speech Day: 10:10, October 28, 2015. No group class during this time. You are all cordially invited to join us!

Judging Criteria:

Teacher Judging: Content 40%, stage presentation 20%, language 30%, time control 10% (The time limit is set between 4 to 5 minutes. The bell will ring once when the speech gets 4 minutes long, then ring twice when it’s 5 minutes. If the speech is longer than 6 minutes, the bell will ring three times and one point will be deducted for every additional minute over the time limit.)

Student Voting: Students can vote for three contestants for the Best Popularity Award.  Whoever has the most votes wins the award.
