[THU] 2017 THU CLC Photo Writing & Presentation Contest

Purpose:

The main purpose of this photo writing and presentation contest is to inspire foreign students at Tunghai University (THU) to learn Chinese and explore Taiwanese culture through exercising Chinese writing and presentation skills. It is also hoped that via this contest, students can further discover the beauty of Taiwan and improve their Chinese proficiency on their own.

Topic:

All contestants should submit their photos along with a topic and a short passage written in Chinese for their work. The photos and topic should be related to Taiwan. Topics related to humanities, folk festivals, customs, industrial culture, architecture, landscape, and natural environment are acceptable.

Naming Your Work:

All work should be submitted with a filename in the following format :【ID_NAME_TOPIC】.
For example, 【 CH100222_David_Daily Life】.

Rules:

  1. Each contestant can only submit one piece of work. All work should be fully typeset on A4-size pages, no more than 3 pages, be saved as an pdf and also an editable file (at least one Word.doc file attached), and sent by e-mail to: clc@thu.edu.tw
  2. Each workpiece should include 3-5 photos in jpg files, with resolution at least 6 million pixels and 72dpi(fine, high quality)or higher. All characters must be typed in a font size at least 12 pt. Winners must additionally provide digital *.jpg files with at least 300dpi-resolution for high quality output.
  3. For students from class A, each workpiece must include a short passage composed of 100-300 Traditional Chinese characters. For students from class B & C, each workpiece must include a short passage composed of 300-1000 Traditional Chinese characters. All contestants must introduce their work in Mandarin Chinese for 4 minutes during the presentation session.

Scoring:

All work will be judged by CLC teachers according to the following scoring criteria.

  1. Visual Creativity 20%: Photo composition and creativity.
  2. Composition Content 40%: Integration of the passage content with its topic and the storyline.
  3. Oral Presentation 40%: Uniqueness and creative presentation of work.

Notes:

  1. Please see the Attachment 1 for sample work.
  2. Each workpiece must be 100% originally self-created. Please do not remake, copy, or invade other author’s intellectual property right. Specifically, photos are not allowed to be reproduced by computer and passages are not allowed to be written by ghostwriters. The organizer has the fully authority to disqualify any contestant who violates the aforementioned regulations.
  3. The copy rights of the winners’ original digital files belong to the organizer. That is, the CLC retains all the rights to reproduce or use them for other marketing purposes.
