[FGU] 2017 Dragon Boat Festival Race
Posted by Christine Chou in Day Event
The time is here to start practice for the 2017 Dragon Boat Festival Race. It’s a great opportunity to take part in a traditional Taiwanese festival and kick other dragon (boat)s’ butt.
When: The practices start on April 28th. We will practice from 16:30 to 18:00, until May 30th. We will practice for an hour and a half. Ten practices in all.
4/28(FRI)、5/03(WED)、5/05(FRI)、5/10(WED)、5/12(FRI)、5/16(TUE)、5/19(FRI)、5/22(MON)、5/23(TUE)、5/26(FRI) 16:30-18:00
5/29(MON)、5/30(TUE) 07:30-17:00
You are not required to come to every practice. (The practices are in the afternoon, but it’s necessary both because of the heat, and to give everyone a chance to join.)
Where: The Northwest side of the Yilan bridge. If you are at the Foguang Language Center, follow the road towards Jiaoxi and cross the bridge. Turn left after the bridge and take the ramp down the river.
What do you need: Wear comfortable clothes and sneakers? Eat something before, but feel free to take a small snack on the boat.
Requirements: Be on time. After the boat leaves the shore, we will not come back until after practice is over. You are not required to come to every practice, however, those who have come to more practices have priority on the race day. Also, and most important, competing in the Dragon Boat Race does not require strength, but stamina and coordination with your teammates. Both, can be improved by practice.
Race days: The race days are Monday, May 29th and Tuesday May 30th. May 30th is the national holiday.
